- It seems to me that a saint becomes a hero when they remain human throughout their saint acts. When they experience the pull to do something else and overcome it, rather than following naturally saintly impulses.

- Witnessing others’ acts of courage, kindness, strength, and overcoming activates different regions of the brain than those activated by physical beauty, namely cortical regions where our emotions translate to ethical action. (Keltner)

- Enforced bravery - She has never wanted her own children to have to be brave. Brave like the children on leaking boats fleeing wars. (Levy)
